The purpose of site clearance is to remove all obstructions, including debris accumulated, discarded and/or abandoned to the seafloor during an asset’s operational lifecycle. Site clearance is a critical step in clearing asset retirement obligations as a means of reducing the interference with other activities in the Gulf of Mexico. Site Surveys are used to identify all obstructions and determine the minimum clearance area assigned by regulatory bodies presiding over the asset.
